RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Religious Education is a lifelong process for all Catholics. Education of our children is the right and responsibility of the parents who are the first and most important teachers of children. Religious education is offered to children grades K4 through High School to assist the parents and to expand on the child’s knowledge and understanding of the Church and it’s Sacraments. The children are specifically prepared to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. Once they are confirmed, the young people are encouraged to continue to deepen their knowledge and understanding of their faith either through further classroom experience or through Youth Ministry. Adult religious education is offered in our churches 1) to help us to continue to learn about the faith and 2) to help keep the parishioners informed on current developments in the church including news from the Vatican, Papal statements, and important events worldwide.

Religious Education for Youth

Religious Education for Youth is offered at all four churches. Holy Trinity offers a program for youth K4 through High School from September to May each year. This includes preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. The program is offered for all youth in the parish. The classes are taught in English by teachers who speak both English and Spanish.

All individuals who have regular contact with children must undergo a Diocesan Background Check and attend a 3-hour VIRTUS session of preventing child sexual abuse.

Religious education for youth is offered at St. Theresa, St. Andrew, and St. Mary Mission. Only sacramental preparation classes are offered for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. All individuals who have regular contact with children must undergo a Diocesan Background Check and attend a 3-hour VIRTUS session of preventing child sexual abuse.

Religious Education for Youth, background checks, and VIRTUS sessions are coordinated through the Holy Trinity Parish Office.

Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry works with high school teens to help them learn more about their faith and the ways in which they can apply it to their lives as young people. Youth groups are formed when there are enough individuals to participate.

All individuals who have regular contact with high school aged teens must undergo a Diocesan Background Check and attend a 3-hour VIRTUS session of preventing child sexual abuse.

Religious Education for Adults (English and Spanish)

Adult Religious Education Classes are offered in both English and Spanish. Religious Education leaders should be well versed in their faith and able to teach and lead discussions. The Pastor must approve all Religious Education leaders and programs prior to initiation.

RCIA (English and Spanish)

The Rite of Catholic Initiation of Adults (RCIA) at Holy Trinity is offered in both Spanish and English. RCIA is for anyone who is considering joining the Roman Catholic Church, any former Catholic who wants to come back to the church, and to any current Catholic who wants to learn more about the Catholic Church. Instructors must be well versed in the Catholic faith and doctrine and must be able to teach and lead discussions. All RCIA instructors and programs must be approved by the Pastor prior to initiation.
